What Groove Extractor actually measures

ToneAnvil builds a short-time energy envelope, detects local onset peaks and converts their strength into MIDI velocity. Each onset is compared with the selected rhythmic grid so you can preserve the original microtiming, partially quantize it or snap it completely.

About automatic drum classification

Kick, snare, hat and percussion labels are heuristic. ToneAnvil compares low-, mid- and high-frequency energy around each transient; layered drums, distorted loops and unusual percussion can be misclassified. Every hit can be dragged to another lane before export.

Groove MIDI export

Export writes a Standard MIDI File at 960 PPQ with the selected BPM embedded. Hits are placed on MIDI channel 10 using General MIDI-style notes: Kick 36, Snare 38, Closed Hat 42 and Percussion 39. Timing and velocity edits are preserved.
