Phase / Comb Collision Mapper

Layering a sound with a delayed copy can reinforce some frequencies and hollow out others. Enter delay, sample rate and layer level to map phase rotation and comb-filter risk before you commit.

Why a tiny delay changes the tone

When a signal is summed with a delayed version of itself, the phase offset depends on frequency. Some frequencies add while others partially or fully cancel, producing the repeating peaks and notches known as comb filtering.

What this model assumes

The graph assumes the delayed layer is an otherwise identical copy. Real kick layers, synth oscillators, plugins and stereo channels have different spectra, envelopes and phase responses, so use the result as a timing guide and verify in mono by ear or with a correlation/phase meter.
